THE PARKES COMPANIES ANNOUNCE NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OF PARKES CONSTRUCTION
The Parkes Companies announces Clay Parkes as the new Executive Director of Parkes Construction continuing a family legacy in Middle Tennessee construction.
The Parkes Companies, Inc., today announced the promotion of Clay Parkes to Executive Director overseeing all staffing and operations pertaining to Parkes Construction, the building division of The Parkes Companies. This announcement carries with it the continuation of a family legacy in both construction and at The Parkes Companies, which was formed as R.P Industries in 1978 by Clay’s grandfather, Joseph Parkes, Sr, who passed away earlier this year.
Clay joined the company in 2008 after receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. Beginning his career with smaller single tenant buildings and tenant up-fits, Clay quickly transitioned into larger projects within the company, taking him from a 10 acre Whole Foods Shopping Center in Louisiana to the 183,000sf multi-family project, Kirkwood at Melrose, the second phase of the notable renovation project of the Melrose theatre that spurred revival of the 8th Ave corridor in Nashville TN.
In 2017, Clay finished the first prototype for a new entertainment concept, Drive Shack, in Orlando, FL. This 66,000sf, 90 bay golf entertainment center was the continuation of a long standing tradition that Parkes Construction has in building entertainment facilities. In 2019, Clay led the Senior Living Group of Parkes Construction and took over management and supervision of all Parkes Construction Superintendents. Additionally, Clay is Chair of the Associated Builders and Contractors Board of Directors, Greater Tennessee Chapter.
“The Parkes Companies has a long history in Middle Tennessee,” says Joe Parkes, Jr., President of The Parkes Companies, and father of Clay, “my Dad started this company to leave a lasting legacy for his family and we are proud to see the legacy continued. Clay has risen through the company ranks and has proven himself a dynamic leader in the company and the Middle Tennessee construction industry.”
David Parkes, formerly Vice President and Group Leader of Parkes Construction will assume the role as President of Building and Site Divisions. David has led Parkes Construction for over 30 years, completing major construction projects throughout the United States.
